This page is in development. If you do not find the information you are looking for here, please contact us directly and we will get back to you immediately - usually within 4 or 5 hours at the most.

Q1 How long has the website been operating?
A1 AgentMapIt.com went live on March 1, 2009, and promotion to agents began shortly after that.

Q2 How much traffic does the site get?
A2 Like all new sites AgentMapIt.com will not get a lot of traffic until it is established with potential users and the search engines. The site is being aggressively promoted to agents across Canada and the US (starting in April 09) and through other sites such as Kijiji, Craigslist, Youtube and others. Because of our background in web promotion and search engine optimization we expect to start generating significant search engine traffic within our second month.

Q3 If the site is so new, why should I join now?
A3 If you wait until the site is more established it is almost a certainty that your location name will be gone. We will be constantly promoting the site through member announcements and other means listed above, so virtually every agent in your region will know it exists. We make it very easy to join, and you can cancel at any time. So there is very little reason to wait.

Q4 Can you summarize the benefits of membership?
A4 Member benefits include

- Exclusive listing for your town or city (see Q5)
- Network with other agents who are serious about referrals.
- Regular promotion of YOUR PROFILE to other members.
- Promotion of members to our extensive agent mailing lists.
- Youtube announcements as new members join.
- Regional Networks promoted across North America (1 million agents)

Q4 How do I get an "exclusive" listing for a specific location name?
A4 Each member creates a profile that includes search terms they want to be found for. Gold members have "exclusive" claim on one location name. Their "marker" then shows up on the map when someone searches for any of the search terms defined in their profile. When someone searches for a location name that a member has exclusivity for, only that member's name and marker are displayed for that search.

For example, if Arnold has exclusivity for the location name "Bracebridge", then only Arnold's profile (and marker) will be displayed whenever someone searches for "Bracebridge".

Q5 What constitutes a "city" or "town" for the purposes of AgentMapIt.com?
A5 We use the terms "city", "town" and "location name" interchangeably. Our primary concern is with the location name used for search purposes. For example, if you are in the "Muskoka" area, where there is no actual town called "Muskoka", but you still want to use "Muskoka" as your primary (exclusive) location name, that is fine with us. You can then enter other location names within your service area as secondary names (for which you do not have exclusivity.)

Because some cities are significantly larger than others we must place a limit on the exclusivity feature. Cities or location names with more than 250,000 population (as of the most recent census information) may have more than one exclusive member, at our discretion. For example, Ontario (Canada) has 6 cities with a population of more than 250,000 (Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, Hamilton, Brampton and London). So for these cities we will allow more than one member to have "exclusive" claim to these place names. In that case searches for these cities will display more than one exclusive member.

There may be other location names to which this rule will apply as well. For example, if a location name such as the "GTA" (Greater Toronto Area) or "Chicagoland", "Bay Area" or "Twin Cities" are commonly used to designate an area, and are likely to be used in searches, we will not likely give exclusivity to members for those terms. Such situations will have to be decided on a case by case basis.

Q6 Can a member claim more than one location name?
A6 Yes, but they can only be exclusive for one location name. Many agents cover more than one town or city, and in most cases there are several smaller communities located in their service areas. When creating their profile a member can list all the location names they service. Whenever someone searches for any of those location names their profile will be listed and their marker will show on the map. But as soon as someone claims exclusivity for any of those location names only that member's profile and marker will be displayed for searches on that specific location name.

For example, if Natalie has exclusivity for "Jonesboro" and also wants to be found for Valley View, Apt, Hergett, Herman and Brookland, she can list all these secondary location names in her profile. Whenever anyone searches for "Hergett", her profile and marker will be displayed.

Q7 Can a member have "exclusivity" for more than one location name?
A7 Yes, by buying more than one membership. Each membership gets exclusivity for only one location name.

Q8 Can a member be found for search terms other than location names?
A8 Yes. There is a "tags" field in each profile that lets members designate other search terms such as "military", "retirement", "vacation", "commercial", etc. Members may put whatever terms they want in this field.

The database can also be searched by agent name, street address, state or province, country, and franchise.

Q9 What is a Regional Network?
A9 As we move across Canada and the US we will be creating "Regional Networks" where there is a natural regional affinity between cities and towns within regions. Each Gold member will be assigned membership in the most obvious regional network.

For example, all members in the Southern Ontario region will be part of the Southern Ontario Regional Network. This gives members a more manageable target group for their own promotion. Each member will want to create relationships with all other members within the regional network. We will also promote new members and circulate other announcements within regional networks by emailing regular regional newsletters to all members within a specific regional network.

Q10 Does membership in a Regional Network mean you are not part of the North American Network
A10 No all members are part of both their Regional Network and the North American Network. Visitors to the site will be able to search the main (North American) network and find you. They will also be able to search the appropriate Regional Network and find you.

This system assumes that an agent who is part of a specific regional network will be most interested in knowing the other members of that network. An agent will especially want to gain exposure within his or her region, and will especially want to form relationships with other members in his or her region. Why? Because that is where most of the referral action will take place - from other members within their own region.

Q11 How do I know if my city is available?
A11 Just contact us and we'll tell you.

Q12 I've been a real estate agent for a long time and already have a network of associates. Why do I need AgentMapIt.com?
A12 Agents come and go. Many new agents enter the profession every year, and these agents are not likely to be part of your circle of acquaintances. Also, in some cases newer or younger agents are hungrier than more established ones and more eager to forge alliances and share referrals. Updating your network of associates is something you should be doing on an ongoing basis.

Q13 My company already has a referral network? Why do I need AgentMapIt.com?
A13 Many companies encourage referrals within the franchise. AgentMapIt helps you find referral associates in companies other than those in the same franchise. The bigger your active referral network, the more referral activity you are likely to generate.

Q14 How do I know the member agents in AgentMapIt.com are reliable partners?
A14 The same way you know any agent is a reliable partner. You have to communicate with them and get a feel for the way they conduct business. You will also be able to ask fellow members about their dealings with other members.
